Of books and bats and sealing wax

A place where Anthony rambles on randomly or just shares observations.

Or nice pics. Laugh and live.

Miniature Worlds by Audrey Heller

Audrey works in a 1:87 scale ratio, populating every day objects with tiny denizens. Where do these little people come from? Are they always there and we just dont take the time to notice them? What happens if one gets in your pants? I mean, is it rude to ask them to leave? So many questions. Buy prints at squint-pictures.

Film, comic and gaming universes all gather on the same battlefield in Josip Kelava’s beautiful set of Hero / Villain typographic posters. (Detail Shots)

This little project is a showcase of all my favorite characters, both friendly and foe, as typographic posters representing a little of what they are about.” - Josip

Harrier and Jaguar by Fiona Banner

As part of an art exhibit for Tate Britain Modern Art Museum, Fiona actually purchased a legit Harrier and Sepecat Jaguar XZ118 which she then personally modified for this installation. The Jaguar was stripped and polished so visitors could see their reflection in it, while the Harrier was hung upside down and embellished with hand-painted feathers.

No, it’s not an impressive crash, it’s art!

man has built a hillside home reminiscent of a hobbit house from JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings — on a budget of just £3,000.

Simon Dale constructed the woodland home for his family in Wales, taking only four months to fully complete the project with help from his father-in-law. Built with “maximum regard for the environment” it contains a cosy living room, an open-plan kitchen and a split-level bedroom area. The home is also adorned with fairy lights and wooden furniture to complete the look.

RESPECT

I want to live here. No debates. I’m buying a plot of land and building my own. I wonder if it’s safe to walk around on the roof…

We’ve actually discussed doing this very thing at some point.

There are awesome cakes and then there is THIS.

Super Mario Kart Cake  - by letthemeatcake

For flickr user M.A.L.’s wedding, this special gaming cake is 100% edible. The planet design is inspired by Super Mario Galaxy and features a Rainbow Road track (which Luigi is racing on) wrapped around it. The interior is filled with bittersweet chocolate ganache, chocolate buttercream, and chocolate mousse. See the entire set here. Rainbow Road is where cakes go to die in my mouth.
